ISEC has established itself as the leading biennial meeting focusing on superconductive electronics. The first ISEC was held in 1987 in Tokyo, Japan. It was followed by meetings again in Tokyo (1989), then in Glasgow (Scotland, 1991), Boulder (USA, 1993), Nagoya (Japan, 1995), Berlin (Germany, 1997), Berkeley (USA, 1999), Osaka (Japan, 2001), Sydney (Australia, 2003), Noordwijkerhout (the Netherlands, 2005), Washington (USA, 2007), Fukuoka (Japan, 2009), and most recently in Den Haag (the Netherlands, 2011) as an integral part of the Superconductivity Centennial Conference (SCC 2011) celebrating the first 100 years of superconductivity. This 14th meeting will be the first ISEC of the next superconductivity century. ISEC 2013 will be a four day conference bringing together leaders of the research, university, industrial, military and commercial communities from around the world to discuss progress and challenges in the field of superconductive electronics. The ISEC 2013 program committee, led by Dr. Mark Johnson, is preparing an exciting technical program focusing on the newest results, trends, and ideas in superconducting electronics. The conference covers many rapidly developing areas such as SQUIDs and SQUID-array circuits and systems, energy-efficient mixed signal circuits, digital and memory circuits, quantum computing, detectors, metamaterials, superconducting spintronics, and others. The sessions are organized in a single, non-parallel track featuring plenary, invited, contributed talks and posters from about 200 anticipated attendees from many countries. ISEC 2013 will be the first ISEC being held as an IEEE sponsored conference supported by the IEEE Council on Superconductivity led by Dr. Elie Track. This increases the profile and prestige of the ISEC meeting as well as paves the way to take advantage of rapid and archival publication opportunities that IEEE provides. The ISEC 2013 Publications are led by Dr. Alan Kleinsasser who has structured new publication options unavailable at prior conferences. In addition to the traditional non-copyrighted ISEC Extended Abstract book which will be distributed at the conference, attendees will be able to publish their extended abstracts as peer-reviewed papers available via IEEE Xplore and indexed by Scopus, Google Scholar and tentatively Thomson Reuter. Furthermore, extended abstract authors will be invited to prepare and submit a detailed full paper for publication in a special issue of the IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity dedicated to ISEC. The ISEC 2013 Organizing Committee is very fortunate to have secured a venue in Cambridge next to the campuses of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and of Harvard University. Cambridge is a part of Boston, with a unique academic feel and rich university traditions, located right next to a large bustling city downtown just across from the picturesque Charles River. Boston is considered a cultural capital of the USA, famous for its rich cultural life featuring world famous museums, theaters, historical places, acclaimed restaurants, sport arenas, as well as numerous other cultural and entertainment sites. It won’t be difficult finding things to do before, during, and after the conference for you and your companions. The conference will be held right after the most important and festive American holiday, Independence Day (the 4th of July). Boston has a special place in US history as the birthplace of the American Revolution.
