The materials science and engineering of thermoelectricity play key roles in realizing high-efficiency direct thermal-to-electricity conversion. This symposium will broadly cover fundamental research on advanced thermoelectric materials and prospective applications, including wide-spectrum solar energy harvesting, industrial waste-heat recovery, automobile exhaust-gas power generation, solid-state cooling, etc. The contributors could discuss basic science issues, explore new phenomena/concepts, or address obstacles in designing devices and systems for practical applications. Discussions of microstructure tailoring, growth mechanisms, materials synthesis, mass production of materials and devices are also welcome. Two-days symposium is composed of invited talks, oral talks and a poster session on thermoelectric materials, devices and their applications.
