Supporting by DAAD and the Thai government, the conference will be hold at Oct. 12-13, 2007 in Bangkok Thailand. Many Asian countries are undergoing rapid development and transformation. Industrialization of these countries has caused increasing concerns over sustainability management issues. As a result, industry and business are called upon to act responsibly for the environment and the society. Being actively engaged in sustainability management, EU countries play important roles in promoting new concepts and perspectives of sustainability along with their investment in Asia. The new policy reform on chemicals - REACH and the new Global Harmonisation System – GHS, may lead to broad impacts on the development of Asian countries. Meanwhile, paradigms are continuously generated by Asian countries with reference to local culture and environment. This 2-day conference aims to provide a platform for bringing together government officials, entrepreneurs, researchers and practitioners in the area of sustainability management from both European and Asian regions to communicate and share their experiences. The conference also aims to build communications networks with governments, relevant organizations, initiate cooperation and establish a strong network on sustainability management in the Asia region.
