活动简介

Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI) is a newly developed medical imaging modality that images super paramagnetic iron oxide particles (SPIOs) with high sensitivity, no tissue background, and no ionizing radiation. MPI is well-suited for clinical applications such as angiography, cancer imaging, and inflammation tracking; as well as research applications such as stem cell imaging and small animal imaging. In MPI, SPIOs are magnetically localized using a magnetic field gradient and nonlinearly change magnetization whenever a magnetic field-free region is scanned across them. This magnetization signal can be detected inductively using a receiver coil and reconstructed to form the final particle image. In recent years, advances in MPI have shown the potential to surpass other imaging modalities for angiography, nanoparticle imaging, and stem cell imaging in sensitivity, safety, and quantitation. From its inception in 2010, the International Workshop on MPI (IWMPI) has been the premier forum for researchers working in the MPI field. Since then, the workshop has broadened in scope to include all research areas in MPI, including hardware, reconstruction and systems theory, nanoparticle physics and theory, spectroscopy, patient safety, and medical/research applications. The attendance also increased from around 70 attendees in 2010 to over 200 researchers this past year. We encourage you and your colleagues to contribute your research and results to IWMPI, where you will have an opportunity to interact and collaborate with the greater MPI community, and to take steps in advancing the field of MPI. We especially welcome clinicians and researchers in the fields of MRI and radiology who are interested in learning more about the technical aspects and clinical potential of MPI.
