The China Meteorological Administration (CMA) is pleased to invite you to participate in the 17th WMO/IAEA Meeting on Carbon Dioxide, Other Greenhouse Gases, and Related Tracer Measurement Techniques (GGMT-2013) which will be held on 10-14 June 2013 in Beijing, China. This will be the first GGMT meeting organized in a developing country with a rapidly expanding greenhouse gas measurement programme such as China, which follows the recommendation made at the previous GGMT-2011 hold on 25-28 October in Wellington, New Zealand. This meeting is scheduled the week after the 9th International Carbon Dioxide Conference (http://icdc9.lasg.ac.cn) taking place in Beijing.
The initial meeting in this series was organized by Dave Keeling at La Jolla, California in 1975 and was mostly focused on CO2 observations. Since then, the focus of the meetings has substantially extended to include the key greenhouse gases and tracers, their isotopes, assessment of new techniques, issues of standardization and quality assurance and data products. The target audience has broaden from ultimately problems and challenges in the field of precise measurements of atmospheric trace gases to the data utilization and integrated products and observational network design.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has provided the umbrella to all GGMT meetings (commonly referred to as the “CO2 Experts meetings”). Since 1997 the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna joined WMO due to the increased use of carbon isotopes in studying the carbon cycle. In addition to the information included
