This symposium is intended to provide a platform for researchers from both inside and outside China to discuss academic and policy issues related to China's financial markets. After 30 years of rapid economic growth, China has emerged as the world’s second largest economy and its capital markets have also experienced rapid expansions. Over the last ten years, there has been a growing research interest in using China’s unique institutional settings and rich data sources to study a range of fundamental questions. Building on the success of the first symposium in 2012, the second symposium will continue on the second theme on China's financial development as a "lab" to study fundamental questions in financial economics.
