You will be several hours driving distance or twenty minutes by helicopter (www.bluehawaiian.com) from the very active Kilauea Volcano. You can drive to the top of 13,803' Mauna Kea, for the most memorable sunset or sunrise of your life. It might be possible to ski the Mauna Kea and to snorkel in the Pacific Ocean on the same day. You can be a paniolo for a day in nearby Waimea, home of Parker Ranch or fish for giant marlin offshore.
