The Latin American Workshop on Optical Fiber Sensors (LAWOFS) organized by the Brazilian Society for Microwave and Optoelectronics (SBMO) is a renowned event uniting the scientific community involved with optical fiber sensor design and applications.

Following the successful meetings in 2016 (Porto Alegre) and 2019 (Rio de Janeiro), the LAWOFS 2024 will take place at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Campinas, Sao Paulo, as a special Ibero-American edition, advancing the synergy with

Ibero leading groups in fiber sensing research and development.

The LAWOFS 2024 will focus on intense interaction among Ibero-American participants to encourage purposeful debate on new concepts, technologies, and applications of photonic sensing, enhancing international collaborations in R&D projects. Furthermore, this special edition broadens its scope to general photonic sensors based on waveguide and free-space optics, besides introducing a Students’ Session to motivate the participation of undergraduate students in scientific discussions.
