Embracing a circular economy approach for batteries allows us to conserve valuable resources. The battery is important for transportation electrification and the Zero carbon development goal. According to McKinsey & Company, across the battery recycling value chain, from collection to metal recovery, revenues are expected to grow to more than $95 billion a year by 2040 globally, predominantly driven by the price of the recovered metals, expected battery cell chemistry adoption, regionalization of supply chains. Battery used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems, often contain hazardous materials and require substantial amounts of energy and resources during production. Proper management of batteries throughout their lifecycle, including sustainable production and responsible disposal, can help minimize their environmental impact, reduce resource depletion, and mitigate pollution. Embracing battery sustainability and circular economy practices can drive innovation, job creation, and economic growth.
