A Structural Features-constrained Method for Random Acoustic Array Configuration

Acoustic array is a ubiquitous tool for the sound field reconstruction. However, its effectiveness depends greatly on the array configuration, especially in near-field sound measurement. A random array configuration method based on array structural features is presented to solve the problems. On the basis of coaxial circular acoustic array, the array microphones distribution uniformity features are introduced. Uniformity structural parameters and constraints are given. The quantitative relationship of exposed approximate consistent from sound sources to each one of microphones is established. Finally, The objective equation of acoustic array configuration is constructed by combining the array performance parameters with structural features. In polar coordinates Microphone position matrixes are established. The novel partition optimization algorithm with these matrixes is proposed. By the algorithm a complex and lengthy searching process of the microphone location can be transformed into a direct and fast matrix generation. The performance of the method is examined numerically and experimentally. Our results provide the underlying insights needed to guide the design of an 16-microphone optimized array with high performance (1.8ºspatial angle resolution) and fast computing speed (18s array generated time from 2000 candidate arrays).The configuration blindness and complexity are greatly reduced.Furthermore, an unusual feature of the method is that it can be utilized in the case which the sources are of the broadband frequency.
