In recent years, with the rapid development of China's economy and significant advancement of international status, the translation of political documents issued by Chinese government plays an important role in shaping its international image. Xi Jinping: The Governance of China shows the world China's development philosophy, path and mode, serving as an important channel for the international community to have a better understanding of China. Nowadays, scholars have mainly conducted analysis of metaphor translation in political documents based on some translation theories, but few of them have explored the translation process and strategy from the perspective of cognition. Based on Conceptual Blending Theory, this paper analyzes the meaning construction and online processing mechanism involved in the metaphor translation of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China, intending to explore its selection of translation strategies at the macro level. Based on the above analysis, the paper draws the following conclusion: employing the mirror network in metaphor translation is the simplest, while the two-scope network the most complicated; the single-scope network is most frequently used and can be divided into two sub-types: the source space oriented and the translator space oriented projection strategies. The former translation can realize formal equivalence, while the latter conceptual equivalence. This study can provide translators with some suggestions on translation thinking and strategies, thus greatly promoting the development of translation of political metaphors with Chinese characteristics.
