Enhanced tubes are widely used in an absorption chiller to increase the thermal performance of the system. Additionally, size of tube also significantly affect the performance of thermal system. The small diameter tubes can largely increase developing boundary layer and hence heat transfer performance increases. In the present study, falling film evaporation heat transfer is studied for various enhanced small diameter tubes for the practical operating condition of absorption chiller. The effect of saturation pressure, tube Reynolds number, falling film Reynolds number and tube inlet temperature is investigated. The experimental apparatus is verified using smooth tube results. The obtained results are used to develop the Nusselt correlation.
