Numerical study on the LN2 spiral cryogenic freezer

Cryogenic quick freezer could offer fast freezing rates to maintain the quality of frozen food. In this paper, a liquid nitrogen (LN2) spiral cryogenic freezer was designed for food freezing. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was utilized to analyse the fluid field. Then, the temperature field between different layers of conveyor belt was studied. The numerical results show this machine can meet the food freezing requirement, which has the advantages of fast freezing rates, small footprint and large processing capacity.
