IWMTS is an annual International Workshop on Mobile Terahertz Systems. It is organized by the Institute of Digital Signal Processing of University of Duisburg-Essen. The second IWMTS will be held in Hotel Steigenberger, Bad Neuenahr, Germany during 1-3 July 2019.
The Terahertz gap, which offers huge bandwidth while it suffers extremely high propagation losses, has been envisioned as the last domain in the radio spectrum for RF engineers to conquer. With recent technological advances, the feeling in the past two decades that this frequency range can hardly be used seems gone with more and more promising results. A number of well-attended international conferences on terahertz technology have witnessed this view. Different from these well-known conferences, IWMTS focuses on mobile ability and system concepts in terahertz technology in the sense that the systems or devices can be hand-held and easy-to-carry like mobile phones. Of course, progress reports on traditional technological advances in THz components and theoretical studies on THz wave propagation or related topics are also welcome.
The workshop provides a forum for scientists and engineers in this emerging field to present and exchange the outcome of their research. The workshop aims to serve as a catalyst in bringing together participants from academia and industry to help foster new connections and ideas among a heterogeneous community ranging from senior researchers, PhD students, and engineers. The workshop will feature a comprehensive technical program with technical tracks on various aspects related to terahertz research, technology, and applications. In addition, expanded industry exhibitions showcasing the latest advances in THz technology will also provide opportunities for industry professionals to communicate with academics.
