Innovative Solutions in Theory & Practice: ACTNext hosts symposium that focuses on education research & technological innovation

On October 3-4 2018, ACTNext will hold a symposium at The Graduate Hotel, in Iowa City, as an opportunity for participants to engage with experts in various fields on the challenges within the educational realm.

Here, distinguished speakers such as Dor Abrahamson, Susan Embretson, and Christine Ortiz – to name a few – will hold sessions on subjects ranging from assessment analytics, the future of human-computer interaction, collaborative problem solving, and more!

At this event, participants will be able to join exciting discussions with leading practitioners and researchers within the academic and technology fields and learn about the most up-and-coming breakthroughs in psychometrics research.

Categories for submissions are:

Classroom Implementation – Teachers or Educators bringing educational technology into their classroom. Presentations incorporating opportunities, challenges and outcomes of these implementations are highly encouraged
Emerging Technology – Educational Technologists that have developed or are in the process of developing a new system digitizing the classroom and learning experiences. Especially any demonstrations that have been used in research studies.
Novel Research – Researchers that want to present their work and findings regarding Psychometric models, simulation studies, or data mining of student data. Papers and Posters that have already been published may also be considered.

In conjunction with the symposium, ACTNext is accepting submissions for a limited number of poster presentations, and technology demonstrations aligned with our three program tracks. Finalists will be selected by a panel of experts and posters will be presented at the end of the first day during the evening reception. ACTNext is extremely excited to provide this showcase for researchers, technologists and especially educators to share their best work and we look forward to your submissions.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions are allowed in the following formats

Technology Demonstrations there is a limited space for up to four technology demonstrations. These may any variety of types, Virtual Reality experiences, Mobile Applications, Software as a Service platforms, or other interesting technology. Please include any technical requirements to demonstrate your system.
Posters (Paper) - Standard paper poster, dimensions of 3' x 4'. Easels and folding cardboard backs for mounting will be provided for stand-up presentations. (Accepted posters should be printed by the submitter and brought along to the event)
Posters (Digital) - Digital "posters" that may be presented in a variety of formats such as powerpoints, or short videos. This is an opportunity to present your work in a format that is not a standard 3'x4' academic poster. Monitors, power and network connectivity will be provided in the venue.
