活动简介

The conference builds on the success of the international conference held at the Ibn Zohr, Business School, in 2018. An event which involved presentations from 22 countries including North America, Australasia, Europe and Africa

Higher education institutions are increasingly asked to recruit more students, respond to systemic changes and meet the challenges associated with regulatory accountability and the impact of new technologies. At the same time, they are asked to rigorously maintain standards and quality. The increasingly globalized economy means that higher education across continents is facing similar challenges that need to be approached cooperatively. Therefore, it is of paramount importance that higher education institutions share their experiences, models and approaches to meet their local needs.

The overall aim of ‘Quality in Higher Education: Sharing Cross-national Examples of Effective Practices’ conference is to discuss present different approaches, models and options that can be considered as good principles for quality enhancement in higher education and a source of inspiration to guide other higher education institutions in the design and development of their own quality assurance models. Therefore, bringing educational practitioners and theorists together will contribute positively to promoting quality in higher education.

A short overview of current issues is set out below, intended to contextualise the conference central theme. The audience will be drawn from those who work as tutors and manage in higher education institutions as well as those who are engaged in study and research at HE institutions. It will also be of interest to those who teach in secondary education and those involved in regulatory systems and policy makers.

A conference Organising Committee and Scientific Committee are in place to rigorously scrutinise abstract proposals. Keynote speakers will take a global perspective in order to promote collaborative reflection to allow participants to consider ideas which might be applied in their own institutions.

To register and submit an abstract for an individual presentation, group symposia visit (easychair). Research based and conceptual presentations are welcome.

The conference fee includes transport to and from the designated hotels to the venue, a ticket for the conference gala dinner and visits to university departments and secondary/technical schools. For the first 100 students who register, there is a reduced student fee of 100 Euro and the conference organising committee welcomes applications to present seminars from students. Students from Moroccan universities will be charged for subsistence only.

In 2018 the first International Conference on Quality in Education: Local Needs, Global Challenges (ICEQ) took place in Agadir, Morocco. It was a resounding success with over 21 countries represented and the standard of presentations from contributors promoted rigorous debate.

The aim is to now hold the second international conference (ICEQ2019) which intends to bring together education practitioners and researchers to explore ways to promote effective quality in Higher Education. The intention is to provide a platform for exchanging research findings and extend the boundaries of thinking about contemporary issues in the field.

The conference organising committee is now accepting submissions for 2019 for abstracts that will form the basis for individual or symposia presentations encompassing the theme of “Quality in higher education: Sharing cross national examples of effective practice’’. It is anticipated that presentations will revolve around particular stands such as:

  • Technology and digital innovation – examples from practice
  • Rising student expectations – sharing cross national experiences
  • Increased costs and shifting funding – a challenge for lifelong learning
  • Making research sustainable – sharing experiences
  • Student engagement – recruitment, completion and evaluation
  • Leadership matters – policy, systems and cohesion
  • Meeting regulatory expectations – the changing face of Higher Education
  • Course and programme instructional design – examples of effective practice
  • Creating educational climates – promoting trust and preventing violence
  • Maintaining teaching quality – challenges and opportunities
  • Measuring and evaluating success - listening to the student experience
