The China-Russia Workshop on Space Weather is a series of bilateral workshops to exhibit the research progress in the field of space weather from the two sides and enhance the bilateral cooperation and communication. The workshop is based on the China-Russia Joint Research Center on Space Weather established in December, 2000 by the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics, Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences (ISTP SB RAS) and the National Space Science Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences (NSSC, CAS).
So far 13 workshops have been held successfully with meeting place alternating between China and Russia.
The 14th China-Russia Workshop on Space Weather will be held by NSSC, CAS in Haikou, the capital of Hainan Province in the South of China, on Nov. 4-9.
The workshop covers the following areas:
(1) Observation and study on the solar activity and its effect on the earth
(2) Response of magnetospheric processes to the impact of the solar and interplanetary disturbances
(3) Recent advances in the upper neutral atmosphere and ionosphere studies, from low- to high-Latitude.
(4) Wave coupling processes from the low to the upper atmosphere
(5) Space weather: monitoring, forecast, and impact on technical systems
In addition to the scientific presentations, a workshop will be held devoted to future Chinese-Russian collaboration on satellite mission, ground-based observation, and space weather.
