The Indian Workshop on Machine Learning (iWML) was first started by Prof. Harish Karnick and Prof. Purushottam Kar of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kanpur in 2013 that brought together several leading researchers and experts in machine learning and related areas from both the academia as well as the industry. Its second edition was held in 2016 again at IIT Kanpur. With the effort to carry forward this prestigious event, IIT(BHU) is organizing the 3rd edition of iWML during July 1-3, 2018.
The third workshop seeks to further this effort and foster growth and excellence in the emerging machine learning community in India. We have significantly expanded the scope of the workshop, including talks and tutorials on modern and cutting edge topics such as reinforcement learning, non-convex optimization, deep learning, and contemporary applications of machine learning to medicine, social media, and vision. We hope attendees will benefit from the wide variety of topics being covered in the workshop, as well as the interaction with leading researchers.

Technical Areas: Papers are solicited in all areas of machine learning including, but not limited to:
• Learning algorithms: Bayesian learning, graphical models, deep learning, kernel and non-parametric methods, approximate inference, structured prediction, ranking, multi-label classification, neural net- works, dimensionality reduction, and optimization.
• Applications: applications to natural language processing, text analysis, recommendation systems, computer vision, systems biology, web and social network analysis, and data mining. • Reinforcement learning: online learning, bandit learning, planning, decision and control, Markov decision processes, and multi-agent systems.
• Theory: statistical learning theory, generalization error bounds, lower bounds or hardnessresults.
• Signal processing: coding, denoising, segmentation, sparse recovery, and source separation.
Submissions must be no longer than 4 pages (including figures, references, and all appendices) and must be typeset in LATEX or MS Word using style files available on the submission website. Please note that weare implementing a single-blind reviewing system for the workshop. Accordingly, submissions must clearly mention names and affiliations of all the authors. Any submissions deviating substantially from the prescribed format will be rejected without review. All papers must be submitted according to instructions given on the workshop website.
