Water is the most essential element for all life forms on the Earth. Hydrologicalcycle does not only play important in the global climate system, but alsogreatly shapes the global pattern of terrestrial ecosystem and social economy. This workshop focuses on the state of the art of nowadays ecohydrologicalstudies in understanding the fundamental mechanisms underlying the climate-soilwater-vegetation coupling system. Such interdisciplinary studies concern globalhydrological and ecological patterns and processes as well as theirinteractions at various spatial and temporal scales, by means of differentobservation, monitoring, and modeling methods, and integrate disciplines fromphysics, biology, chemistry, as well as engineering and social sciences.
