IEEE has chosen Medellin as the venue for the 11th IEEE Colombian Conference on Communications and Computing COLCOM 2018. This conference is the most important in Colombia that aims to show the progress and development of the academic, scientific and industrial usage of the different areas of telecommunications and computing. In this version, the main subject is “Future Internet”. During the past decade, the city has gained national and international recognition for the development of various ICT initiatives coming from government and education institutions, with the participation of the industry.

Medellin has 10 universities educating professionals at undergraduate and graduate levels in several areas of ICT. This has allowed the local ICT companies to grow and has attracted multinational industries to open branches in the city. Furthermore, an increasing amount of ICT-based startups have been created thus enriching the innovation ecosystem and contributing to the socio-economic development of the region. At the same time, local research universities have welcomed a new generation of highly skilled professors, who have helped establish doctoral programs and mature research groups.

We hope that both local academy and industry will take active participation in IEEE COLCOM 2018.
