Advanced materials with their exotic and tailor made properties have recently become the subject of vigorous research all over the world. These materials have the potential for wide ranging economically viable technological, industrial, engineering and biomedical applications. There is a lot of emphasis on designing materials to perform specific functions to meet the requirements of particular technologies. Material scientists are also looking into the possibility of modifying existing materials so as to functionalize them for specific applications. Much work is currently in progress trying to understand the underlying science and characterization of these materials with a view to harnessing their desired properties.
The National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST), Berhampur, India and Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA are jointly organizing the International Workshop on Advanced Materials (IWAM-2017) during December 19-21, 2017, to bring together multidisciplinary materials scientists and engineers from academia and industries to present, discuss and debate the current scientific and technological issues relating to advanced materials. The workshop visualizes giving an exposure to its participants on different aspects of advanced materials through a set of invited lectures by experts in the field, and through contributed oral and poster presentations. Besides, there will be ample opportunity for the participants to have informal discussions on topics of mutual interest with the aim of developing future collaboration.
