INRECENT years, the topics like Electric Vehicles (EV), energy storage systems, and dc grids are getting more and more attractive. Since they are among the key technologies to form the future ‘Smart Grid’ and realize ‘Vehicle To Grid (V2G)’ concept, which can provide the society a more intelligent, robust, flexible, and cost-effective energy network. In order to connect these subsystems together, the bidirectional DC-DC power converters are essentially to be applied for power flow management. The Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converter is so far the most promising topology for this application due to its advantages in terms of simply and symmetrical circuit, low control complexity, high efficiency, high power density, galvanic isolation, and wide voltage operating range.
Nevertheless, the effort has never been stopped to push the performance of the DAB converters, and significant improvement is being made by using the state of the art Wide Band Gap (WBG) devices. Besides, the modelling of the DAB converter although with less attention is critical indeed in order to analyze and design the dynamic performance of the converter, especially when it is applied in multi-modular parallel system. This special session will present the state-of-the-art research outcomes in the area of DAB converters and relevant applications.
Topics of the Session
Topologies of DAB converters (e.g. current fed DAB, resonant DAB)
Modulation schemes of DAB converters
Modeling and control of DAB converters
Applications of DAB converters in DC grids. (e.g. DC microgrids, MVDC distribution systems)
