It is increasingly acknowledged that road vehicles operate in a closed-loop with human drivers. The introduction of semi-autonomous vehicle control technology brings the potential of optimizing driver-vehicle closed-loopbehavior. However, this at the mean time complicates the driver-vehicle system, and thus raises the question of the influence of vehicle automation on drivers’ control behaviour. Therefore, understanding of the interaction between driver and vehicle automation becomes a key issue to the realization of effective driver-automation collaboration. The special session aims to provide up-to date research concepts, theoretical findings and practical solutions that could help implement the collaboration between human driver and vehicle automation.
