Offered in partnership with the Dirección General de Capitanías y Guardacostas (DICAPI), the WMU Regional Conference for the Americas will take place in the city of Lima, Peru from 23 to 25 October 2017, including an off-site visit. Echoing this year’s World Maritime Day Theme “Connecting Ships, Ports and People”, the event is the first of its kind in the region. It will focus on the development of initiatives, strategies and alliances for the advancement of the maritime and port sectors in the region, highlighting the importance of postgraduate maritime and oceans education, research and capacity building for the Americas.

The event is open to the public and it is aimed at identifying opportunities for networking and further promoting academic and business associations among different stakeholders of the maritime and port industries, international and regional organizations, maritime education institutions, oceans-related institutions, NGOs, others actors, and the global network of WMU alumni.
