The International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies (ISQOLS) is holding its 15th Conference in the beautiful city of Innsbruck. ISQOLS conferences provide a space for scholars to present their research findings on quality of life, well-being, and happiness, as well as to discuss their relevance for policy making. Scholars from all corners of the world, from many disciplines, with different methodological and theoretical perspectives, and following different approaches meet with one common goal: generating research-based knowledge to contribute to the well-being in societies.

The first ISQOLS conference took place more than 20 years ago in British Columbia, Canada; during the past two decades there have been substantial improvements in the availability of information and research techniques. Happiness, well-being and quality of life are well-positioned concepts in the academic world, and governments, corporations, and national and international organizations recognize their importance. It is a good moment to hold a fruitful dialogue about how this research-based knowledge can contribute to people’s well-being. Thus, I invite you to come to Innsbruck, to enjoy quality of life in the marvelous scenery of the Tyrol region, and to be part of this conference about Quality of Life: Towards a Better Society.
