The Digital Humanities Research Unit, University of Lagos, Nigeria, is pleased to announce the 1st International Conference in Digital Humanities (Tagged: EKO DH Humboldt Kolleg-2017) sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany which will take place at the University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria from November 14-18, 2017. 

This Humboldt Kolleg aims to create the collaborative space and the intellectual spark that will ignite scholarly debates and contributions on the increasing importance and application of digital technologies in the multidisciplinary forum for humanities and sciences. It will throw more light on the usefulness of interdisciplinary collaborations among scholars in the humanities, core sciences, social sciences and information and communication technology.

This conference encourages contributions, scholarly papers, data-driven research, cutting edge scientific ideas, discussions as well as digital tools that can be utilised to explore novel ideas in the humanities, promote research collaborations, scientific innovations, social transformation and national development. 

It hopes to bring together Humboldtians in the humanities and mainstream sciences as well as other scholars, scientists, researchers and experts within the research communities in the human sciences, information technology, natural sciences, applied and computer sciences, and other stakeholders. It will thus provide the space and forum for cross-disciplinary debates among Humboldtians and other experts to examine the increasing roles of new technologies for innovative scientific research projects and national development. 

This Humboldt Kolleg, therefore, hopes to take advantage of this global best practice to deepen collegiate research cultures among Humboldtians across disciplinary divides and fuel this interdisciplinary conversation by deepening the impact of technologies beyond their core traditional disciplines. 

We particularly encourage doctoral students and junior researchers to apply so that they can utilise this opportunity to present their research works, interact with established scholars and researchers, and expand their research networks. 

The Conference will also run a special session on successful sponsorship opportunities in Germany, especially with Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and DAAD.
