As Malaysia grows in development and affluence, the government begin to look into sustainable development. However, it is also important to realise that, as a country continues to become modernised and developed, threats from various sources will become more apparent. One of the major concerns faced by modern Malaysia is exposure to various chemicals that could affect the society in many ways. It is also worth noting that these chemicals could affect the lives of the Malaysian society through various avenues, from air to water, from food and natural products to drugs, and also from the living space to the workplace.

Therefore, Malaysians are now burdened with the task of maintaining a sustainable society, without having to sacrifice her needs and aspirations to grow and become a developed nation. It is on this note that the Malaysian Society of Toxicology (MySOT) paved an opportunity for toxicologists in Malaysia and Asia to meet and discuss the role of toxicology in making sure that sustainability is not compromised. Thus, the 3rd Malaysian Congress of Toxicology (MyCOT 2017) provides an excellent platform for researchers, scientists and students to gain information about how toxicology could contribute to sustainability. It is hoped that the outcome of this congress will help propel Malaysia to future growth while maintaining its sustainability.

MyCOT 2017 plans to achieve the following objectives:

• To provide a forum for creative and scientific discussion on the role of toxicology towards a sustainable society.
• To provide a platform for collaboration and networking among the participants.
• To promote knowledge sharing of current scientific findings, best practices and techniques in toxicology.
• To provide a platform to meet the experts and discuss on issues pertaining to toxicology and sustainable society.
