The AHS 2017 conference will bring together researchers from academia and industry and government specialists to communicate the latest research results, share experiences and discuss new applications. The conference has grown from the precursor NASA/DoD Conference on Evolvable Hardware, held between 1999 and 2005.
Adaptation occurs in all living systems and is a desired characteristic of most artificial systems. Adaptation reflects the capability of a system to maintain or improve its performance in the context of internal or external changes (such as uncertainty and variation during fabrication, faults and degradation in the field), changes in the operational environment, incidental or intentional interference, different users and preferences, modifications of standards and requirements, or trade-offs between performance requirements and available resources.
