The first international Smart City system workshop on modelling, control, optimization, planning and management of complex socio-technical systems aims to serve as a premier international forum for discussions, bringing together academic, industrial and governmental researchers along with practitioners, standards’ developers, policy makers and students interested in future Smart Cities multidisciplinary research in the fields of system sciences. It also aims to foster the transfer of research results into practical implementations such as simulation tools, decision support and situation awareness systems.
The workshop brings together researchers from different areas such as complex networks and systems, system dynamics, adaptive systems, agent-based simulation, computational social science, risk analysis, decision science, operational research, computer intelligence, systems’ modelling and semantics to create a multidisciplinary knowledge platform for Smart Cities’ resilience, sustainability, protection and risk management, decision support, and vulnerability assessment.
The workshop will help to identify the gaps in the existing research knowledge and the areas for future multidisciplinary collaboration. It will also help to create new projects and develop a roadmap for future research and development.
The follow-up exhibition will provide opportunities to present software tools (decision support, optimisation, simulation, situation awareness, planning, etc) and to participate in matchmaking meetings to discuss new partnership and collaboration opportunities between academia, industry and cities’ authorities. The follow-up co-creation seminars will provide opportunities to discuss and apply research results to concrete regional programmes with the participation of cities, regions and industry.
