Melaka (also spelt Malacca), a state steeped in history, is located 148 km south of the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur. Once an important trading city for traders plying the spice trade route, it still plays an important role in contributing to Malaysia's economy and tourism. With history that can be traced back to 1400 A.D., Melaka offers a very colorful tapestry of cultures - Malay, Chinese, Indian, Peranakan, Chettiah, English, Portuguese and Dutch. Here one can find traces of these cultures infused in every aspect of life in Melaka. APSMER'17 is proud to host the symposium in the historical city of Melaka, a UNESCO Heritage Site.
