The latter part of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st centuries have witnessed a significant transformation from work organized around individual jobs to team-based work structures together with a focus on organisational efficiency. This is due to the increasing complexity of tasks, which in many cases cannot be performed by single individuals. Additionally, changes in technology facilitate workers in distinct locations to communicate and collaborate at low or no cost. On that account, team composition and formation research is of interest to both companies to assure their competitiveness and to a wide range of emerging applications exploiting multiagent collaboration (e.g. crowdsourcing, human-agent collaborations).
The purpose of the TEAMAS Workshop is to bring together social scientists, agent researchers and developers, engineers and practitioners interested in team formation, encompassing: techniques for efficiently selecting agents; algorithms for team coordination, collaboration, and judgment aggregation; approaches for dynamically assessing (and improving) teams; coalition formation and team based crowdsourcing. Our workshop intends to promote the discussion on the theory and practical applications of AI and multiagent technologies involving teams, providing a playground for cross-fertilization for all the disciplines tackling team composition, formation, and teamwork (e.g. organizational psychology, mulitagent systems, education, or business management).
We encourage the submission of papers describing any kinds of applications, models, techniques, and algorithms oriented to teams, that are used to provide support for multiagent systems. In particular, we are interested in those proposals that allow multiagent systems to be adopted in academia and industry.
TEAMAS is related to the main conference since it provides a forum for discussing those ideas and emerging needs in the context of the multidisciplinar topic of teams, including multiagent systems research, organizational psychology research, and industrial communities. In addition, TEAMAS is also related to the special track of Innovative and Industrial Applications since the transference of agent-based applications to real-world contexts may require, in most cases, agent teams. What is more, this workshop will allow the discussion of those challenges in the context of crucial areas such as social networks, big data, or security.
In particular, TEAMAS workshop encourages submissions on, but not limited to:
Formal team models,
Team composition models and algorithms,
Performance measures for teams,
Benefits and disadvantages of team-building activities,
Human-agent teams,
Team communication models,
Applications (e.g. crowdsourcing, human-agent teamwork),
Teams’ dynamics,
