An Assessment Method for Measurement Accuracy of Gravity Gradiometer

Gravity gradient reflects the change of gravity. And it has a high-er resolution than gravity, which makes it play an important role in the exploration of oil and mineral respecting. In order to obtain accurate information about gravity gradient, it is necessary to assess the performance of gravity gradiometer before the survey of gravity gradient. In this paper, a new assessment method for measurement accuracy of gravity gradiometer is proposed, which is based on the assumption that the gravitational potential satis-fies Laplace equation. From the Laplace equation, we know that the sum of diagonal components of the gravity gradient tensor matrix is zero. Then by judging whether the measured diagonal component is zero, the assessment of the gradiometer can be achieved. A simulation experiment is designed and carried out. And the results show that the assessment method works well.
