One of the difficulties for underground metal mining is water prevention and control, particularly in mineswith complicated hydrogeological conditions, and large inrushesof water. The effective control of the water is a bothering consistent problem,as well as a system project. As a result of in-depth research studies and developmentsin underground mine water prevention and control techniques, a curtain grouting near orebody technique has been adopted to block against water. The implementation of this technique has led to effective decreases inwater inrushes, andbetter water control effects. In this study, the characteristics, basic conditions, and technical points of the underground curtain grouting near orebodytechnique were introduced. The Xulou Iron Mine in Anhui Province was takenas an example, and the design idea, implementation methods, and application effects of the underground curtain grouting near an orebody technique were analyzed. The implementation of the project achieved good results. For example, the water curtain blocking rate was as high as 94%, which solved the problem of water disasters, and provided security for sustainable mining safety and environmental protection.
