GEOMORPHOLOGY CHARACTERISTIC OF CIKANCUNG AND SURROUNDING AREAS, BANDUNG REGENCY, WEST JAVA

Research area administratively includes in Cikancung around, Cikancung district, Bandung Regencies, West Java Province. Geographically located in coordinate 107° 48’ 31,14” until 107° 51’ 46,87” East Longitude and -7° 03’56,36” until -7°0’42,11” South Latitude. The purpose of this paper is to map the geomorphology characteristics of the research area that can provide information to the communities living nearby in order to become the reference in infrastructure development activities and disaster mitigation. The method used is the analysis of geomorphology that includes morphometry (slope), morphograpy (landform classification and river flow patterns), morphogenetic (genetic class), and DEM image analysis. Based on the analysis will be produced geomorphology unit. It can be concluded that the research area can be divided into ten geomorphological units: the volcanic cone of Mt. Mandalawangi unit, the volcanic cone of Mt. Salasih, the volcanic cone of Mt. Pangradinan, ridge of pyroclastic fall of Mt. Salasih, ridge of pyroclastic fall of Mt. Mandalawangi, ridge of pyroclastic flow of Mt. Pangradinan, ridge of lava flow of Mt. Pangradinan, volcanic plain of pyroclastic flow of Mt. Pangradinan, volcanic plain of pyroclastic fall of Mt. Mandalawangi, and volcanic footplain of pyroclastic flow of Mt. Pangradinan.
