Comparative Case Study of Single Stage over Double Stage Electrostatic Precipitator by Measuring Diesel Engine Emissions.

Air pollution is the major threat faced by the entire world leading to various health hazards which is caused by emission of excessive pollutant gases by industries and vehicles. Ample measures are taken in order to set safety standards for various pollutants in the emission causing pollution. Among the precautional methods in controlling the air pollution, ESP is the one which is used in various industries and diesel engines to reduce the percentage of pollutants in emissions to reduce air pollution. This paper explores the comparative study of single stage Electrostatic precipitator (ESP) over double stage ESP by measuring the diesel engine emissions using gas sensors through setting up lab scale prototype of ESP. The performance of single stage ESP alone is examined and then its compared with performance of double stage ESP. The experimental results shows that efficiency of double stage ESP is comparatively higher than single stage ESP. Both results are scrutinized to conclude the comparative case study.
