Suburbanisation is a complicated process influenced by a number of dynamic drivers. These drivers are interdisciplinary factors linked to different disciplines such as spatial planning, history, sociology and economics. This paper introduces methodological approach to define main drivers of suburbs using a number of spatial and socioeconomic forces. Satellite images, GIS and statistics are used to process historical data. These data are then analysed in order to statistically identify the major derivers of suburbs throw two time steps. This methodological approach could also provide a rich set of prediction method for urban planners to predict future expansion of such suburbs.
