This article proposes printed dual band MIMO antenna
structures with high isolation performance. The proposed antenna
structures consist of longer and shorter rectangular arms forming L-shape,
F-shape and bent F-shape MIMO antenna. Mutual coupling between the
antenna elements is reduced by using ground slots (GS) and extended
ground plane (EGP). S11< -9.5 dB is obtained over 2.3-2.69 GHz and 5.12-6
GHz which covers the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (2.4-2.5 GHz), 4G Wi-MAX
(2.3-2.41 and 2.6-2.69 GHz), WLAN (5.15-5.35 and 5.725-5.875 GHz)
applications.S12< -15 dB over the lower frequency band and S12< -20 dB
over the higher frequency band is achieved for all the dual-band MIMO
antennas. Envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) and diversity gain are
also investigated. The ECC of the antenna structures is less than 0.03 and
0.002 over the lower and higher operating band respectively. The antenna
has stable radiation patterns in operating bands. The antenna structures
offer 1-3 dBi gain in both the bands. These antenna structures are good
candidates for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G Wi-MAX and WLAN applications.
