In this paper, low-pressure ionization breakdown analysis is performed for open microwave structures. A horn antenna is designed as an example. The evolution of the charged particle spatial distribution during the discharge is obtained. The formation process of the low pressure discharge in the antenna structure is analyzed. The two main discharge mechanisms for microwave discharge in the antenna structure, i.e., multipactor and low pressure ionization discharge, are analyzed. The low-pressure ionization breakdown threshold with different working pressure, center frequency, ambient temperature and microwave structure is studied, and the main influencing factors and influence laws of low-pressure ionization breakdown in the antenna structure are achieved.
