Abstract: The number of space debris continues to grow, which poses a serious threat to the safety of aerospace programs such as space stations, manned spacecraft and all kinds of applied satellites. In this paper, the distribution statistics of all active aerospace programs and the space debris around them at present are carried out to analyzing the safety of the aerospace programs. Then, the method of using space-based platform for space debris removal is proposed. This method is highly valued because of its high technology maturity and the fundamental improvement of the space environment. However, this method involves repeatedly orbit maneuver, so one of the most important work is to select the appropriate target and to determine the rendezvous sequence to reduce the fuel consumption. The long-term orbit evolution rules of the debris is studied to solve this problem and an effective removal strategy is formulated with the rules. Finally, a task simulation is carried out with the space debris in our country as the removal target.
