A biconvex lens was designed and fabricated by embedding electromagnetic-induction materials (cage-shaped granules of conductor materials, CGC) in polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). The CGC material has a refractive index of 1.504 at 35 GHz. The spatial resolution and depth of focus of the active millimetre wave (AMMW) imaging system were analysed. Millimetre-wave (MMW) images of square and two bars have been obtained with the biconvex lens. The image quality was acceptable, proving that the CGC material has the ability to refract MMWs in MMW imaging.
