Research on short-circuit electromagnetic force of MV ES with different structural arrangements of ground loop

Based on theoretical analysis and experimental research， short-circuit electromagnetic force of Three-Phase medium voltage (MV) earthing switches(ES) with different motion forms and different structural arrangements of ground loop have been studied. And the influence of electromagnetic force under correspondent various conditions on short-circuit making performance is discussed in detail as well. The results show that earthing busbar connected with three-phase earth moving contact suffers a great electromagnetic force, which, however, has quite different influence on short-circuit making performance under different layout and connection of earthing loop. Accordingly, we present suggestions on layout and structural design of MV earthing switch as future practical design reference.
