In recent years, Biogeography-based Optimization (BBO) has drawn a lot attention because of its outstanding performance. Biogeography-based Optimization is the study of the geographical distribution of biological individuals. Previous studies on the BBO algorithm are mainly based on their excellent global optimization capabilities. However, we will fix migration operator of BBO to Small Word Model in this paper. The algorithm called SWMBBO. Small world phenomena are an important feature of complex networks. A small world network that any two nodes of the network can be connected through a small number of intermediate nodes. If the small world model is used in the BBO algorithm, any two habitats can mutually migration through a few intermediate habitats. Experimental results show that our method is effective and efficient. Compared with other evolutionary algorithms, SWMBBO performs no less, even better in some benchmark functions.
