A New Bumper Structure and 100% Frontal Impact Verification

Firstly, a SUV 100% frontal impact process was carried out, the experimental and simulation results were compared with the three aspects of deformation mode, acceleration and energy conversion, and the accuracy of the finite element model was verified, and concluded that the energy absorbed by bumper can be accounted for 4.3% of the total internal energy. Secondly, a new type of bumper structure was obtained through the tailor rolled blank (TRB) design technology. Finally, the effectiveness of the TRB bumper structure was verified by means of energy absorption, deformation and acceleration in the 100% frontal impact environment. Results show that under the premise of constant quality, the energy absorption can be increased from 6.51 kJ to 7.14 kJ, the amount of deformation decreased from 513 mm to 506 mm, and the acceleration peak value decreased from 35.9 g to 34.7 g.
