“Yes/No” to keep Scottish independence is a hot topic for Scottish writers for hundreds of years, especially since Scotland joined in the Union with England in 1707. In Scottish short Stories the authors have given their answers to this question directly or indirectly. The writer of this study will closely examine the texts in these stories to point out most authors’ point of view and explore the reasons in shaping their positive Scottish images, particularly in depicting Scottish Highland’s local colour and the Scots’ heroism, sturdiness, loyalty, patriotism and chivalry.
