Ecological values and costs of urban green space under different management modes

On the basis of ecological service function and negative influences on environment of urban green space analysis, idea about eco-management and agricultural management has been put forward. An urban green space ecological value, cost and profit evaluation model was established by virtue of previous research about accounting of ecology value. Then green space of road was taken as a case to evaluate its ecological values and costs under different management modes. The results showed that irrigation water resources consumption amount is greater than the green water conservation quantity universally existing in the management of urban green space. In the general management of urban green space, use of chemical fertilizer and pesticide brought great environmental pollution. In the eco-management mode, profit of urban green space was nearly 50% higher than that in the general mode, for cost of urban green space reduced. Urban green space has great economic output value while its ecological cost almost the same as that in general management mode. Through this study we suggest that urban green space should be managed either in the eco-management mode or in the agricultural mode, so that human been could get more ecological benefits.
