Fine particulates seriously affect environmental quantity, agriculture production, animal husbandry and human health. Based on Air Quality Index (AQI) data of 13 monitoring sites in Xi’an City since 2013, the paper studies the temporal/spatial distribution of fine participates and then analyzes how these distribution characteristics form. Results show that the AQI values of fine particulates are highest in winter (December, January, February) and lowest in summer (June, July, August). As for spatial distribution, the fine particulates mainly gather at the northern part of Xi’an City where industrial districts and populated area located. These temporal/spatial distribution characteristics result from the comprehensive effect of precipitation, temperature, weather, wind direction, terrain, industrial layout and population distribution.
