Aluminum alloys are prone to adhere to the tool surface during machining, leading to issues such as tool adhesion, chip formation, and degradation of surface finish. Consequently, reducing the friction coefficient of the tool coating and mitigating the adhesion between the aluminum alloy and the coating constitute critical objectives for enhancing machining stability and extending the service life of tools. Preliminary studies have demonstrated that the (AlSiVCrNb)N high-entropy nitride coating exhibits superior hardness and structural stability; however, its friction coefficient remains relatively high, which may hinder its effectiveness in suppressing adhesive wear during aluminum alloy machining. The element Mo possesses favorable tribological properties; during frictional processes, it facilitates the formation of Mo-containing friction products or oxides with low shear strength. Furthermore, the introduction of Mo allows for the modulation of coating grain size, phase structure, and defect state, thereby improving coating density and wear resistance. Therefore, incorporating Mo into the (AlSiVCrNb)N high-entropy nitride system aims to reduce the coating's friction coefficient, enhance its anti-friction and wear performance, and improve its resistance to adhesive wear in aluminum alloy machining processes.
