摘要
Science communication extends beyond public outreach—it is also essential for career development. As an early career researcher, I will share how communication challenges throughout my PhD became valuable learning experiences that shaped my professional journey. This presentation reflects on unsuccessful PhD and job interviews, where I struggled to communicate my research effectively and respond confidently to challenging questions. Through reflection, practice, and feedback, I gradually improved my communication and interview skills, which ultimately contributed to securing a postdoctoral position at the end of my PhD. I will also discuss the challenges of communicating research with stakeholders whose interests differed from my findings, highlighting the importance of professionalism, transparency, and respectful dialogue when scientific results are questioned or challenged. By sharing both setbacks and successes, I hope to encourage students and early career researchers to embrace mistakes as opportunities for growth. Effective science communication is not about getting everything right the first time—it is about learning, adapting, and building resilience throughout a scientific career.
