摘要
As global warming accelerates sea ice loss in the Arctic, a probe into the impact of this on the release and/or capture of marine microplastic in the Arctic region starts to show more importance. High abundances of microplastics in sea ice have been documented, yet a real picture of the microplastic distribution pattern across different water forms in the Arctic remain relatively unknown. This talk will focus on microplastic analysis method and the occurrence and distribution of microplastics in sea ice, snow, melt-pond water, and under-ice seawater in the northwestern Arctic Ocean. We will share the results we found and report the co-occurrence Bray-Curtis network analysis results. Our results suggest that sea ice can act as a temporary reservoir for microplastics, whereas snow, melt-pond water, and under-ice seawater reflected ongoing microplastic inputs. These findings can help to better understand the fate and transport of microplastics in the Arctic sea ice environment which will help to assess their eco-environmental impacts.
