Sustained sea-level-rise (SLR) induced by global warming has substantially altered the tidal processes, lifting extreme high-tide levels and triggering frequent levee overtopping events. This significantly exacerbates flood hazards in coastal zones and reshapes geomorphological evolution patterns of various coastal types, emerging as a critical issue threatening coastal safety, stability and ecological sustainable development. In recent years, the author and team members have systematically investigated tidal evolution patterns driven by SLR, analyzed high-tide-flooding risks, and clarified the dominant regulatory role of tidal processes in coastal geomorphic evolution. The results reveal that tidal dynamics act not only as a vital trigger for extreme high-tide disasters, but also as a core force governing long-term coastal geomorphic evolution and ecosystem stability. Based on the above analysis, this paper underscores that tidal processes occupy an irreplaceable fundamental position in coastal disaster mitigation and ecological restoration. The findings provide theoretical and technical references for coastal risk management, geomorphic conservation and ecological resilience improvement under climate change.
